The History Club’s first Christmas party went very well with a quiz, a raffle, mulled wine and singalong. And a set of postcards available to commemorate our first year.
The winning team pipped the post with a thorough knowledge of old pubs – guess who? No, not Roger Robinson – but locals Dave and Alan.
Prizes included (aptly) a bottle of Prosecco, tickets to the current Exhibition on Maps donated by the British Library, as well as chocolates for all. The wining raffle ticket was number 1 and the prize of a bottle of Cava and mince pies went to local musicians Simon and Tina of Oh!Gunquit.
Mimi Romilly led a singalong with Dave joining in – the only ones who remembered ‘Just an old shanty in Old Shanty Town’ This was sung locally as ‘in old Somers Town’, as recorded in Sue Crockford’s documentary ‘Somers Town’ – and again, Dave took the floor. Here’s some photos…
