Saturday’s Somers Town Festival proved grounds up initiatives can survive.
Lover’s Rock Janet Kay headlined; and we saw old faces and new from the communities.
The Museum held an open air exhibition of its community co-curated health work – with themes of housing and health; childhood and motherhood and wellbeing.
A Youth Work experience group that we ran the week preceding the Festival, had its final day at the Festival selling the books as well as T-shirts, bags and prints on radical history themes they had screen printed.
The theme of 150 years of the original Pearly King local man Henry Croft meant a large turnout of Pearly Kings and Queens. The ‘Pearly Sari’ our women’s group worked on for months was worn by Shahnaz Ahmed, facilitator onto the Main stage.
The Pearly Sari will be exhibited at a Launch event on the 17th of July 2025.
